What Women Want…in Office Furniture

More and more women are becoming entrepreneurs in the US. In fact, the growing rate of businesses owned by women is growing twice as those of the male entrepreneurs. This has sparked many office furniture manufacturers to gear their product designs towards the taste of business women.

By nature, women are more inclined to the look of a certain space. As men seek functionality in their office furniture and equipment, women look out to personalization and style. They say for women, it’s not just a matter of buying an ergonomic chair, but also a piece that can complement the whole look of the room.

Among the office furniture that women look for include office chairs and desks scaled to women’s smaller frames, as well as furniture that has more storage to hold purses and other personal items - a top priority for women.

Jennifer Selby Long, a business owner of a management consulting company, once noted that, “Everything is too masculine, edgy, too modern, and heavy on the metal.”

She is among the women who demand for office furniture customized to the needs of women at work.

Currently, a continuous research of the women-entrepreneur market is being done by various office furniture manufacturers to suit the growing needs of women. It is also important to take note that there are firms which have more women employees than men. Creating a new set of design for this specific group will greatly benefit the employee’s work life and of course, the productivity of a company.
