Tidying Office Floors-II

The most important facet of your office is the flooring. Despite the fact that it is usually being taken for granted because it is just something that we walk upon, it is greatly important to take good care of the carpet as they can easily become the breeding ground for some harmful bacteria that is brought in by or footwear. The carpet should indeed be placed on top of the priority list of office furniture to get, since one glance at it can determine if the office is ergonomic or not.

If you want to try and clean the carpet yourself, here is a simple DIY method to keep the office floors not just workable, but actually inhabitable. Here is how to go about common food and beverage stains:

Immediately scoop as much of the spill as possible off the floor. Remember to blot and not rub, with a clean, white absorbent cloth or paper towel to remove excess moisture. Use a wet/dry vacuum if spill is large.

Douse the stain with warm and not hot water and blot using a clean, white cloth or paper towel. Press it down firmly to remove as much moisture as possible, and repeat doing so until no stain is evident on cloth or towels.

If the stain remains on the carpet, make a solution of warm water and mild non-bleach liquid laundry (and not dish washing) detergent of about (1 teaspoon to 1 quart water). Apply enough amount of the solution to cover the stain, and then let it soak for about 5 minutes. Rinse with warm water and blot thoroughly to extract water. Repeat until all detergent is removed.

Absorb remaining moisture with layers of white paper towels, weighted down overnight with non-staining glass or ceramic object and let it dry before allowing the office occupants to walk on them once again.
