Ten Tips to Great Office Furniture – Part 2

2. Not Measuring the Space

Remember this. Stores arrange their models in such a way that they are enticing to the shoppers. Now it doesn’t always mean that if the office furniture appear perfect at the showroom it will be also appear the same way in your office. As indicated above, measuring will save you time and money as well. Reduce the risk of buying furniture that eventually won’t fit even through the door. Best to take a measuring tape and start gauging the exact area dimensions. Write them down. Now after all the measurements have been done and your still indecisive, envision how exactly you would like things to turn out and draw them on paper. This will give you a sketch which you can show the salespeople and help you reach a wise decision.

3. Not Requesting a Fabric Swatch to Take Home

Before purchasing a piece of upholstered furniture, ask the furniture store representative or Internet store for a fabric swatch. You may be surprised to know how the way fabrics look can be altered because of lighting. Having a swatch at hand gives the convenience of being able to compare the material in many situations. For example, one can determine what the upholstered material looks like in the desired space during different times of the day. Be sure to see how the color blend with other pieces, accessories, drapes, area rugs, and wall color.

4. Not Knowing Whether the Furniture is Comfortable/Functional

Since an Internet purchase won’t get you the privilege of getting to try out the furniture before shipment, you may want to visit stores that carry the same line of products. Test the merchandise first so as to get a personal touch of how your purchase will feel like. It is a good idea to test the furniture out by sitting on it, laying on it in order to see if it is comfortable and feels like something you will enjoy sitting/laying on while reading, napping, or watching TV.
