Sheriff Department gets Furniture Makeover

There would be a major makeover at the Unicoi County Sheriff’s Department, particularly at their offices. A friend of Sheriff Kent Harris, who wanted to remain anonymous, donated brand new office furniture that is valued around $10,000.

Joy Grindstaff who works as a Sheriff’s Administrative Assistant, apparently has a generous supporter. The donor wanted give something back to Grindstaff who Harris called “one in a million.” The humble worker is considered to be the sheriff department’s backbone. “She has things done before I ask her,” Harris said. “I think she reads my mind.”

Among the many items donated, furniture like new workstation office chairs and cabinets were the most noted. These furniture are a valuable addition to the Sheriff’s office. More importantly, Joy will be able to continue her fine service to the department but this time she has a brand new workstation to work with.

Before the makeover, the department’s old furniture was more than 20 years old. Many of the pieces were dented and damaged while some completely did not match. The timely donation will definitely be an asset to the department as a whole. Everyone’s work, especially Joy’s, will be a lot easier with all the extra desk and storage space.

It is comforting to know that in this day and age of self-importance, there are still some folks who value other people’s performance. Moreover, what better way to award an outstanding employee than by giving valuable benefits through brand new office furniture.
