Offices Say Goodbye To Cubicles
Cubicle-based layouts in the workplace have started to become a thing of the past now that offices are beginning to recognize the benefits the company and its employees could get from replacing cubicle-type workstations with more open-plan areas.
According to experts, studies show that this kind of office furniture hinders workers to achieve efficiency and improve production. This is because employees often feel claustrophobic when working in a cube.
It has been realized that being confined in the four corners of such work area only welcomes dull atmosphere. The absence of walls and partition, on the other hand, encourages dynamism and enthusiasm, thus, fighting serious boredom in the office.
Victoria Erhart, specialist in this field, says that the design of a workspace needs to reflect the needs of the current workforce.
Having unassigned, as opposed to permanent working area, is the best alternative to promote vitality among workers and healthy workplace. This provides an array of spaces and environments workers can choose from. Also, this will pave way to teams to select an area that would be most suitable for their current needs.
She also added that the idea of unassigned workspace can lead to increases in efficiency and productivity, thus giving a competitive advantage.
Seeing such concerns, businesspeople have now realized the need to reorganize office furniture set-up and detach from something that is obsolete like cubicles.
