Office Furniture Installation 101
After all the concerns regarding the delivery of office furniture, the next concern relative to this would be the installation. If you want the installations to be completed in time, then it is a must for you to hire an efficient and experienced installation company. Just be sure to make the necessary adjustments regarding your place, to calculate installation time.
If the office furnitures seemed to be not as complicated and complete with instructions, you should have no trouble with these. Nevertheless, here are a few tips to consider with the installation company after receiving the delivery.
1- Job Foreman/Supervisor: The main man to call for the installation of office furniture is none other than the foreman. You should insist that the one who was able to assist you through he whole process must be the one to supervise the installation. It he who already knows your plans best. It would not also hurt to ask this person to visit the site before the first delivery. Through this, you will be able to meet him and discuss the project with him. Take this opportunity to discuss any building requirements such as concerns about the elevator, loading dock, and building hours.
2- Installation Drawings/Typicals: After checking with the foreman, consult with the man who is preparing the final drawings for the office furniture installations and ask him if he could make you a copy for your personal file. If you have involved an Architect or a Design Firm with the installation, they will give the floor plans complete with the furniture layouts. Most of the time, the office furniture store takes these drawings and finalize them once you have selected the furnitures.
3- Systems Installation: Consider the knowledge and experience of the foreman when it comes to installing a particular system that you have purchased. Ask relevant questions such as his experiences, and major concerns when it comes to installing systems.
4- Overtime/Straight Time: The hours are important when it comes to installation too. While it may also be a financial concern, the installation should not distract the other works, availability of the workspace, etc.
5- Staging Areas: Even before the delivery, map out with the foreman the space that the furnitures will be taking up in your office.
After discussing these vital issues with the furniture store representative or the installation company foreman, it would not hurt to have these agreements in writing before your orders are placed.
