Office Furniture Delivery and Installation – Part 3

There has to be a supervisor to oversee the installations of the office furniture or equipment. You may ask the supervisor to visit the site a day before the delivery so they can plan how to go about the process and you can discuss how you want things to look.

The supervisor needs to be informed of any building requirement like location of the loading dock, or if there has to be insurance coverage or even the building hours. As the facilitator of the installation, the supervisor must be knowledgeable of what the requirements are in order to navigate through the installation process. You may need to introduce the facility manager and discuss the plans with the building management as well so the installers can gain access to places that require it.

For records or filing purposes you may want to ask for a copy of drafts or blue prints of the installations. There may also be floor plans that have layouts of furniture if you are dealing with an architect, again this may be for large scale projects that involve a much more complicated equipment or office furniture arrangement. These drawings may also be obtained from design companies if one is involved.

Installing the unit or the furniture system you are buying may be tricky at times. But since you are dealing with professional installers they should be well aware of what they are doing and must have a knowledge and experience in what they are installing. Take your time to ask them about previous projects they have done, they may also have portfolios on those projects so you can see how it went and how it looked.

Just like in delivery, overtime and straight time should be determined as well, confirm which hours are which and give the specific time you want them to start. Inquire about additional charges for overtime and deliveries and if there are delays. You must need to know how much space will the installers be taking up when they start working. These should be arranged prior to the delivery day itself to prevent delays and challenges in the actual installations.
