Office Furniture Delivery and Installation – Part 2

Direct deliveries: Direct means that the furniture will be delivered from the factory direct to your site and not to a warehouse. Trucks would probably be coming in straight from their cargo base. Check what the manufacturer’s regulation about quantity requirements for full trailer loads that require direct delivery. Do this at the time when the order is placed. All arrangements for a major project and should be discussed with your furniture representative.

Damages: Take time to be informed about how exactly the pieces are going to be handled. Damages mostly occur during shipment and delivery so be make sure that the furniture is shipped in the original carton or packaging. For added safety, you may want to pay extra for additional boxes and cushions. This method lessens the chance of damage occurring.



Sign Off: As standard operating procedures, you or a representative of your company will be asked to sign the product after is has been delivered. Before signing the papers, thoroughly inspect the pieces for damages and count if all has been delivered. After all, the furniture are uniformly packaged and you may never know if all parts are altogether secure in one box.

Assembly: Discuss with the dealer whether the delivery personnel will assemble bookcases, level lateral files, install bases on small tables, etc.

Multiple deliveries: Discuss with the dealer whether there would be additional charges for delivery cancellation and changes. Better to ask questions before hand than paying fees in the end.

Installation of Office Furniture

Seek professional help if installation of office desks and chairs are quite complex and burdensome. Hire a reputable, experienced company complete with the service of expert individuals. Acquire help from a job foreman to supervise the whole installation process. The foreman would be able to execute preparations and administration for a more organized and efficient installation.

Now that you have a clear understanding of office furniture delivery and installation, there is just one more thing you must know. Have all agreements be done in writing. Getting all approvals in paper gives you the power over unwanted confusion and misunderstanding.
