“New Ways of Working” introduced to the Middle East” - Part 1

At this year’s Office Exhibition held in Dubai recently, the “New ways of working” proved to be the more favorite of subjects discussed at the Workplace Freedom seminars. OFIS, the furniture, flooring and interior solutions business of the Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group, together with Samas , took over the presentations.

Samas’ Theo Magermans, Director of Business Development, mentioned in support of the needneed for a lively work environment and traffic congestion as key reasons for introducing the ‘Village Office’ idea in the UAE. This endeavor was well received by the audience who were architects, designers, and office owners who attended the seminars as part of the exhibition.

“Employers should understand that good working interiors are a management tool in itself for increasing staff productivity. In fact, the chances of doubling their performance at work goes up by 10 per cent in flexible and exciting social work environments where they can network and interact with one another.” was Theo’s exact words.

The Middle East is gradually stepping up in the innovate world of office environment development. Samas, among many other companies, has successfully furnished several companies including Ericsson, Interpolis, Kluwer, IBM, Oracle in the Netherlands. On the other hand, the ‘Village Office’ has been successfully introduced and implemented in Holland. United Kingdom, Belgium and Germany.

Among the many other factors that influence the workplace environment, Magermans pointed to a recent study by the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, which found that on average there is a 15-minute delay in every 25-minute trip during rush hour. The result of these delays, is a staggering estimated loss of AED 4.6 billion annually for the economy. Quite damaging for something that can totally be avoided.
