Getting Rid of Office Stress – Part 1
How many times have you walked into the gray washed walls that surround the dungeon that is the office? Ever felt the rain cloud that seem to hover above your head every time sit at your office chair? Have you always though of turning your dull office into a corporate oasis? If your answer to all the question is yes, you are one of the many other employees who have been wanting to turn things around at their offices.
The work place should emanate an environment of inspiration and comfort. It should motivate the workers into increased performance and communication. However, most of the time, its the other way around. Stress often creeps in and affects the whole mood of the office not to mention the health of its employees. Although it cannot be avoided completely, there are certain ways to battle this stress. Employees can change their environment with minor adjustments. Here are some things that can be done.
Fluorescent lights are proven to be afflictive to one’s health. Strong lighting can cause migraines,eye fatigue, drowsiness and even irritation. Most companies still use these kinds of lights since they are cheap and durable. What you can do is purchase desk lamp and put it at your office desk where it can directly illuminate the work surface. Yes, you may need to shed a few cash on this but consider the benefits you can get. This lighting system will increase Vitamin D which stimulates the cortisol hormone, eliminate “seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and boost the immune system. Natural light can also be used. This probably is the cheapest way to provide lighting as no electricity is needed. All you have to do is open the windows and let the light of the day come in.
