Getting Organized

Have you ever experience getting sick and tired of all the things that clutter your office desk, not to mention your entire workspace? Have you ever wished that you will be able to find the right means and techniques on how to organize your office furniture, equipments and supplies properly? If you have, then allow yourself to work out different ways on how to maintain a spotless workplace. Here are a couple of helpful tips:

  • Make a list of items that you use regularly. It might include pens, markers, highlighters, pencils, and other writing materials, paper and other stationery in a multitude of shapes and sizes, telephone and answering machine, computer, copier, scanner, printer, filing trays, books, journals and periodicals and correspondences, and personal other personal stuff.
  • Place the most frequently-used items in a cabinet, drawers or shelves that are within reach for ease and convenience. It would be better that getting these things will no longer require you to leave your post or get up from your chair.
  • If you get eye sore whenever you see clutter all around, you need a storage system that will most likely allow you to store as much as possible behind close doors.
  • Visual neatness is important. That’s why it is best to opt for a storage that looks like office furnishing for a nice finish.
  • If you want to place books and other reading materials on your desk, you can always make use of bookends. This allows the books to stand neatly and orderly.
  • Have a container or a drawer that has different sections for segregation of office supplies especially the small ones.
  • Use a pegboard to organize office supplies and equipments, rather than throwing everything into one drawer. This also allows you to see the items that you need easily and quickly.
  • Use of desk pads or stick-ons that will serve as reminders for your daily or weekly tasks. Make sure to place the notes in their proper places once you’re done with the tasks.
  • Always keep waste to a minimum. Put a trash bin under or beside your desk, or near you.

A workspace that is neat, organized and orderly affects your work output positively. So stop giving yourself a hard time doing your job in a cluttered space when you can start tidying up your working area. It does not only help you find a systematic and easier way of doing your tasks but in a way, it does inspire you to become more productive and efficient as well.
