Feeding the Creative Mind: The Ideal Writer’s Home Office-II
After getting all excited with the idea that you will finally be working in your own home office, it is time to consider all the factors that you need for it. Some important elements such as the location of the home office should come first in the to-do list. After all, determining the space will determine the rest of the things that you will need to accomplish. Say, lighting conditions of the room. Is the chosen place for your home office ample in light? If not, then you need to adjust the lighting fixtures that you will buy. After which, we now move on to the most exciting part of having your own home office—the office furniture.
While office furniture may come in to be costly, by following these simple steps you will be able to enjoy an effective and ideal home office.
Everything old is new again. Check all that you have stored first in your basement or attic. You will probably find a discarded office chair or office desk, so have them cleaned or better yet, refurbished so that they will be able to serve with an ergonomic flair this time. This will not even cost you much.
Recycle. Make recycling happen for your home office. Some cardboard boxes or containers can easily be a place for you to store your entire files in. you can also put in all your office supplies inside although it will be more ideal to use smaller containers for things like pens, pencils, paper clips, etc.
Barter/Exchange. If you have a friend who has an old computer, telephone, or fax that is still bearable to reuse, then get them for your home office. It will also not be such a bad idea to get used office furniture since it can be easily refurbished to restore its glory. This way, you can pay your friend in kind and it will not even cost you so much.
Check out all Thrift Shop/Garage Sales. These are where you are most likely to find great and inexpensive home office furniture. If, however, you were not able to find good ones, then do not opt to buy one just because it is affordable. Remember that inexpensive does not have to mean bad office furniture. Ergonomics is still the name of the game so if you find a good one that is inexpensive, then go for it.
