Feeding the Creative Mind: The Ideal Writer’s Home Office-I

Due to the advent of home offices, it has been noted that some work that involves the creativity of the person will prosper more with the ideal home office. Hence, some designers or artists work best when they are comfortable in their own space, and what better place for this to be than their very own home? All the more for the writers, who need to exert a great deal of thinking. Some really busy writers do not even have the time to shave or stand up from their office chairs because they need to capture their flow of thinking on a piece of paper. The writer really needs an organized home office, because it is only a myth that being organized can hamper one’s creativity. Here are some tips on how to organize a writer’s ideal home office:

Develop a clear understanding with the other people in the household regarding your home office. Clarify that you will need your very own private workspace with your own office furniture so that they will not have to invade you or look for things that are not in there. If you want to be able to watch over your children while you are writing, it is best to designate an area for them in your home office, preferably with friendly office furniture to leave them comfortably.

Choose the best location in your house for your home office. It is important to choose the right office furniture, and to consider the lighting conditions of that place since writing involves good vision. Create an L-shape for your desk area with filing space within reach. Consider ergonomic design to protect yourself from fatigue or even injury since you will have to write a lot.

Avoid having clutter through the FAT—file, act, or toss system. Next, set up your office desk and be sure to have only the relevant paperwork on top of it. Needed mail that you need to send, or files that need to be checked should be found on top, while those that can be stored away should be kept out of your reach. Leave office supplies somewhere else and not on the office desk.

Put a trash can where it could be easily accessible such as beside the fax machine or under your office desk. Being able to throw things immediately will let you enjoy a free desk top. After following these, you may now freely create your masterpiece while enjoying the comforts of your writer’s home office.
