Ergonomics Essential in Office Furniture – Part 2

The Office Ergonomic Research Committee uses the combined members’ dues for their research funding taking note of its interest to its product supplier and end-user membership. Right now they have almost over fifty scientific studies at hand, including literature searches and research symposia in certain areas. They were established in 1991 by a group of US companies who were alarmed with the continued increase in the musculoskeletal disorders among office workers and since then they have been known as the leading company in innovative research in the field of office ergonomics.

All of its members’ combined resources and skills are put together to study certain factors that cause the issue and fund the research to further rectify such. One of their studies show that businesses who take care of their employees by providing ergonomic furniture and training on how to use it had around 17.8% productivity gain which means more income realization as well. On the same note, other industries like a call centers for example showed employees were able to achieve a productivity gain of 8.3% when it comes to handling calls per hour. The Office Ergonomics Research Committee knows how the office work and fatigue interrelate to each other and integrate it on their studies.

The studies that they are doing are considered to be one of the most comprehensive scientific efforts to link an ergonomic product and training to an employee’s health, productivity and profit realization. They base their research on it and they disseminate such information and communicate their findings on its causes for further prevention. They are responsible for the continued awareness of all businesses when it comes to ergonomics. They have a website which is available to all and this is where they place their findings.
