Ergonomic is Key for a Stress -Free Environment – Part 1
Living a busy life tends to stress you out, you juggle your social life and family along with deadlines for presentations at work and meetings with clients. It helps a lot to have an office where you can work and relax as well. It is very important that your work area is conducive for getting the job done and designed to promote an employee’s productivity in the most efficient and safe way without compromising the quality of work.
Ergonomics, therefore, is an essential feature in the office or work place that you need to take into consideration. Also known as biotechnology and human engineering, ergonomics refers to the design of an equipment that is supposed to aid in maximizing productivity and lessen fatigue and discomfort to the worker or operator.
Making an office ergonomic will minimize cumulative trauma from repetitive tasks. These are injuries or work related disorders that affect the upper extremities’ muscles and tendons. This is often caused by prolonged postures or repetitive movements that overburden muscles way beyond their capability.
Most companies that distribute office furniture are more vigilant when it comes to this matter and they make sure that they have ergonomic designs for their products like office desks and office chairs. However, there’s more to ergonomics than just buying equipments that have it as a characteristic.
While a lot of business offices spend on furniture, a lot of them also have budget for hiring consultants who conduct seminars that aim in teaching employees how to prevent injuries due to cumulative trauma. These may cost them, but employers would rather invest money that way than spend it on employees’ medical treatment because of the injuries that is caused by not making that investment.
Employees suffering from cumulative trauma disorder may complain of back pains or sore wrists. This is avoidable if we learn some simple work habits, and taking into consideration comfort in your workspace.
