Couple’s art-inspired office furniture
Lynn Heitler and Philip Levy, owners of office furniture company, Art Partitions Inc., which designs, manufactures and assembles workplace stations, moveable partitions, lamps, tables and other office furniture and accessories, have made an art out of designing office furniture by using science and technology. The company utilizes an inkjet printing process that can do large corporate installations or small intimate settings, which transfers original artwork onto almost any surface — wood, tile, metal and fabric.
Each product allows customization. Buyers can opt to use Heitler’s original artwork of Heitler who was a fine arts painter and printer for many years, or images found in the public domain. An example would be a customer adding components like Plexiglas display cubes or built-in vases on office desks and partitions. The office furniture is not completely but aesthetically modular.
The company has provided design services and products to owners of the new Museum Residences at the Denver Art Museum and has recently completed a commercial assignment for a small consulting firm. In addition, the company’s producing more office desks, chairs and accessories for the workplace.
Founder of Explore Communications Brett Grischo has commissioned Art Partitions to make a custom reception desk, fabric partitions to hide unsightly file cabinets, and an office desk and coffee table for his private office. This was made possible by a call made by the company’s marketing director and the fact that Grischo was been keeping an eye out for new office furniture. He wasn’t interested in conventional office furniture for his business which occupies a restored historic building near West 32nd Avenue and Zuni Street. In addition, Grischo liked their portfolio and the time they allotted in understanding my goals and needs.
With careful consideration, Heitler and Levy came up with an underwater theme that Grischo approved of. It includes a variety of fishbowls and aquariums on each employee’s office desk; a fabric multi-paneled screen covered with original artwork of schools of fish; a unique contemporary, distressed metal-and-wood reception desk; and a glass-and-metal desk and coffee table that are colorfully imprinted with an assortment of artwork made by Heitler.
Moreover, Grischo appreciated how swiftly the custom and semicustom pieces were delivered, and then transformed the office interior during the holiday season, toughing the two major snowstorms. All done in less than a month. As for the cost, Grischo said the combination of artwork and customized office furniture is an uncommon value.
Heitler and Levy are determined to bring something new to Denver that utilizes the talents of local craftsmen and offers high-quality products and services in the tradition of their entrepreneurial families.
Getting to know these individuals, it’s good to note that Heitler’s family started Samsonite Luggage. Levy’s extended family started Fashion Bar. Both hail from Denver and grew up together. They’ve been married for many years and each had pursued separate careers for years. Heitler was a psychotherapist and Levy a business consultant. However, it came to a point wherein they wanted to create their own business, as a mutual activity especially now that the kids are grown.
Art Partition was born when they both realized that it’s a commercially viable business venture that can be used to showcase Heitler’s artwork. Adding to the appeal of their unique office furniture is the way it is assembled wherein the artwork can be changed anytime.
Art Partition’s office furniture are available for viewing online and One Home Design in Cherry Creek and Swank in North Denver carry a number of the company’s furniture.
