Aluminium Makes Office Furnitures Ideal
Acclaimed office furniture manufacturer Workspace Solutions has admitted the main component that makes their products successful—Aluminium.
“Our company designs and manufactures aluminium and steel components such as legs for a variety of uses in office furniture, kitchens, upholstery and the hospitality industry which includes restaurants, hotels and so on,” Mike Grantham of Workspace Solutions said in an interview. “Aluminium is one of many materials available in the formulation of a design. I have found it to be an extremely versatile metal, either combined with other materials or on its own, as it has both functional and aesthetic qualities. As an extrusion I have been able to use it in the creation of screens, handles, under frames and legs, supplying the office, kitchen and domestic markets. This usage of aluminium is of a more functional nature than the applications afforded by using a casting process.”
Workspace solutions was able to manufacture the most trusted legs for tables and chairs—either for the office or kitchen—and has come up with interesting design concepts that would go with it. For example, their Wings Leg is a part of their office furniture range. It was ideally designed for the boardroom because it is made of die cast leg with a brushed finish. Grantham says that it was evenly complemented by the powder-coated formed steel dish which conceals the fixing details to the underside of the tabletop.
The newest addition to their office furniture range, the Zita Leg, has proven to be a popular hit for their clients. It is applicable to the boardroom, general office, or even in dining areas, where it is bonded onto glass. Grantham says that the leg shows the beauty of form and function which is harmonized by the Aluminium.
Ajax Manufacturing, one of Cape Town’s oldest aluminium foundries, has been producing components for the furniture industry for more than 30 years. According to Ajax MD Charles Rowe, among its notable long-standing partnerships has been with Mike Grantham of Workspace Solutions. They have established a working relationship with the foundry way back in 1978, and both were satisfied with the good results of Aluminium-made office furnitures.
“Aluminium has long been used in a variety of applications because of its many properties,” Rowe concluded. With the success of Workspace Solutions use of aluminium legs, this partnership will not be ending anytime soon.
