A More Feminine Office – Part 2
Office Depot Inc., the nation’s second-largest office supplies retailer, has paired up with Christopher Lowell, a noted decorating guru, in 2003 to create items that would be a big hit to women in the corporate world.
They manufactured items like executive office desks that are whitewashed, promoting a beach house feel. They also made hutches with antique finishes and they’ve introduced decorative shelving to the market as well earlier this year.
Office Depot Inc., founded in 1986, is considered the pioneer in staking out the female entrepreneur market. They are an industry leader in all aspects, they have an established pool of customers and it continues to expand with a variety of products to offer such as office supplies, office furniture, paper, file folders, ink, and toner with huge brands to choose from. OfficeMax, an online resource for office supplies and office furniture, has also teamed up with Sharper Image Corp.,a company engaged in consumer electronics and a gadget retailer, to make a line of modern office furniture. And to produce a more traditional line, with key components like antique pewter, they have combined expertise with Broyhill Furniture Industries Inc. Sharper Image designs started selling in stores in March, while the Broyhill collection, which has writing desks priced at $399.99 and small hutches retailing for $199.99, hit stores this month.
Ikea, a Scandinavian company that manufactures modern style furniture and accessories, recently launched an informational website which is called Business.Ikea.com. This is where customers can share their ideas on design and discuss other topics as well. They will also conduct events that will feature topics on the tips and tricks of decorating an office. Indeed the office furniture industry is a fast paced industry and it remains at par with the trends. More and more businesses engaged here are coming up with ways to innovate and integrate creativity in what they offer.
