Office Furniture Delivery 101-I

While it may be hard to specify the process of office furniture delivery because the requirements such as where you live or union requirements may vary the circumstances, there are pertinent topics that you must discuss with the furniture store representative first. Here are a few important topics to discuss:

1- Overtime versus straight time: you have to be mindful about the the time of delivery because overtime delivery will cost much than delivery made during normal business hours. As a client, you have to make this decision because it might affect the productivity of your staff. But if it only involves a few pieces of office furniture, then straight time will probably work for you. If the piece you bought requires installation, do not forget to discuss the options with the furniture store representative.

2- Elevator/loading docks: If your workplace happens to be in a shared, rented, or leased building, you have to coordinate with the building management regarding the delivery time and other pertinent arrangements, most especially check the availability and capacity of the elevator.

3- Trash removal: Make sure to consider the arrangements between you and the trucking company regarding the boxes or wrap of the office furnitures. Either way, trash should be immediately cleared from the workspace.

4- Direct deliveries: Direct delivery means that the furniture will actually be delivered directly from the factory to your site, and not to a warehouse. All manufacturers have quantity requirements when it comes to delivery, for instance, full trailer loads for direct deliveries. When it comes to a major project, all arrangements must be discussed with the furniture store representative during the placement of order.

5- Damages: Most furnitures will be delivered in your facility in their respective boxes and packaging to ensure that less chances of damage will occur.

After discussing these issues with the furniture store representative, make sure to be ready when the package arrives, and then start managing the people to help you with the installation location of the pieces.
