What Makes A Good Chair?

This is a response to the “Free Yourself From Back Pain” post. Since many people are demanding a better experience in doing labor while at the office, taking an important look at the chair’s structure is a must.

Apart from the computer, the office chair is the employee’s partner in doing office work. A chair is therefore a pal at work. A good chair is a good pal. But what makes a good chair?

1. One with good back support

Adequate back support is needed. It must adjust to fit properly to the worker’s back structure. A good office chair with proper back support will improve your posture and therefore eliminate or reduce back pain and stiffness.

2. Seating

The front of the seat must have a rounded edge. A good tip is that you should be able to slide your fingers between the inside of legs and the front edge of the seat.

3. Height Adjustments

The main key point here is this: thighs should be horizontal to the ground while both feet are on the ground and wrists should be straight while typing.

4. Stability

Chair should not make you fall off your seat, and must be stable at all times.

5. Width and Armrests

You should be able to fit smoothly into your chair. Armrests must have a provision for adjustments.
