Time for New Office Chair

It is beginning to hurt? Can you feel that throb at the end of your spine? Does your back suddenly ache while going through normal routine? Does your neck suffer even while at rest? Does standing up begin to be an excruciating labor? Seems like it is time for a new office chair.

Sedentary work takes a heavy toll on most obliged employees. These workers sit all day causing an inquired stress on their backs. When neglected and prolonged, the body begins to procure pain that may alleviate to significant injury. The culprit, then again, are the chairs they sit in.

Chairs are not just furnishings. They are the essential office furniture which support the workforce through the course of their daily jobs. Supposedly, they must provide comfort and functionality to whoever that occupies them.



So, if you or your people are experiencing the symptoms above, then it must be indicative of a new office chair purchase. These highlights aim to signify the need for new acquisition.

Foam Padding

According to the Cornell University Human Factors and Ergonomics Research Group, if the seat becomes uncomfortable after prolonged sitting (1–2 hours), the padding may be wearing thin and losing its resilience. It is best to examine a chair’s foam padding for proper volume and strength.

Chair base

The National Institutes of Health recommend a five–point chair base for maximum stability and minimal chance of the chair tipping. If yours happen to still have the old four-point office chairs, better to have them discarded.

Casters

These are small wheels on a swivel, attached under a chair or any other heavy objects to make it easier to move. Above anything else, casters provide stability.

Mechanical and functional

Check the seat–height, knee-tilt, tilt-lock and seat/back angle adjustment. These are the common comfort and safety features that greatly reduces the risk of getting injured while sitting.
