The Perfect Office Chair
Sedentary workers are prone to compounding back pains and neck strain due to the long hours they spend sitting on non-ergonomic chairs. Work related injuries such as these fracture a company’s workforce resulting in a decrease of productivity. To avoid this, it is important to choose the right type of office chair that promotes good posture and provides support to the lower back.
There are many ergonomic office chairs that are available in furniture stores across the country. Although it may seem that purchasing chairs are easy, it may somehow prove itself to quite a difficult and confusing task. There are a few things that every potential user needs to look for before buying an office chair that is perfect for their specific needs.
Height of the Seat – For comfort and reach, you must be able to adjust the chairs to preferred height. Look for pneumatic adjustment which makes sitting relaxing rather than a strenuous experience. Swivel must also give a wider reach around the office desk without having to strain.
Lumbar Support – Perhaps the most exposed area of the back, there should be proper support for the inward curve located at the lower portion. A chair that has height as well as depth lumbar adjustment enables every user to properly support this inward curve of the lower back.
Depth and Width of Seat – For adequate support and comfort, seat depth must be such that while sitting, you can gain support from the backrest while your knees are at an approximate distance of 2-4 inches from the front edge of the seat.
Backrest – Width should be at 12 inches to 19 inches. Stress can be reduced by inclining your back on cushioned back rests.
Arm Rests – These features must be adjustable as well. Your arms must rest well while your shoulders are kept relaxed.
Material of the Seat - Padding must be efficient so as to provide adequate resting comfort for the weary occupant.
