The Do’s and Don’ts of Office Chairs

The office chairs are just simple components that play an essential role in our office tasks. This piece of office furniture is often the suspect when it comes to body aches and stress, and is also the culprit when it comes to accidents such as falling on the floor for faulty chairs. Hence, here are a few tips on how to maximize your seating pleasure with the ergonomic office chairs.

Do:

-Follow the assembly instructions completely. Be sure that all the pieces of the office chair is placed exactly where they ought to be so that the office chair will stay put.
-Pay special attention to every component of the office chair, like double-checking if the casters or the wheels are inserted correctly to the office chair base.
-Get office chairs that have a 5-legged base.
-Keep the base of the chair completely on the floor at all times.
-Consult your office furniture retailer about the kind of surface of your office floor because some casters are not compatible with floors that are not carpeted and others.
-Get the office chairs that are equipped with a tension control mechanism to accommodate different body weights/ double-check controls as well to result in a smooth tilt motion.

Don’t:

-Don’t lean put much force when you lean back to avoid any possibility of having the office chair casters lift up off the floor. While it seems impossible, it really could happen. And when it does, the office chairs are usually blamed but it would not really happen without the force that the user has exerted upon it. So just avoid leaning back too much.
-Never put all your weight at the front edge of the chair, so that the office chair will not tip over. Otherwise, just choose a chair with a forward tilt mechanism.
-Never leave electrical components on upholstered chairs because fire can easily be spread on the upholstery, in case the electrical component overheats.
-Just like your body, do not overwork the office chair. Inspect the chairs regularly and maintain them for at least every 60 days.
