Seating Essentials
It is not enough to have the most ergonomic office chair, as it will be futile without your own understanding of its essential mechanisms. Your may know that finding an adjustable office chair is good for you because your can adjust it to your body needs, but what about the real dynamics that are considered for the creation of the office chair? Here is a list of what you are looking for in an office chair:
The Back Angle. The office chair’s back angle should be able to adjust forward and backward. Some chairs even lock in an infinite number of positions to hold the desired angle.
The Back Height. The backrest of your office chair must be able to adjust up and down to fit your whole back and give it the right support that it needs.
The Seat Angle and the Seat Depth. The Seat angle adjusts independently on the backrest through the use of a single lever. The seat depth pertains to the ability to move the backrest in and out to allow additional seat depth. On the other hand, the Seat Height refers to the capacity of the chair to be increased or decreased through manual adjustment.
The Tilts:
The Forward tilt refers to the capacity of the seat to be locked out at a certain tilting position. Multi tilt refers to the capacity of the chair to be locked out in an infinite number of positions. The Knee tilt refers to having the seat and back to be tilted simultaneously at the same ratio form a pivoting point under the front of the seat. Knee-tilt can also be held in an infinite number of positions. The Synchro-tilt means that the seat is tilted back normally at a two to one ratio. This can also be locked in infinite number of positions. The Tilt control refers to the simultaneous tilting of the seat and the back. And finally, the Tilt tension refers to the degree of tilt tension that the chair can make. It allows the office chair to swivel 360 degrees, but the chair does not tilt.
Next time you go out and purchase an office chair, make sure that it has all the essentials that you need.
