Rocking Chairs rocks the Office

When Karen Ball brought in her favorite rocking chair into her office, little did she know of the impact it will have on her officemates.

Karen’s former employer moved to a new office building which actually happened just a few years ago. Everything has to moved and naturally, with all the confusion that comes with moving, some plans didn’t quite actually happen exactly the way it was supposed to. Her company wanted to have office furniture and office chairs for incoming guests to be already ordered and delivered before the move. It didn’t happen though. What happened was, due to the lack of chairs, workers and visitors flock at her desk complaining at the fact that the office new but without chairs. Karen knew she has to provide a resolution for this, even if its just temporary.

At home, this steadfast employee of an engineering firm in California, happens to own an informal collection of rocking chairs. With the lack of seats back at the office in mind and after thinking real hard, she decided to bring one to the workplace. Her decision that day, will reap tons of benefits.

The first day was an immediate success. Every staff member tried it out and wanted to know if they can come back during lunch when Karen is out taking her break and sit on the rocking chair. Two days after that, an engineer arrived an hour and a half early for meeting. She sat down in the chair and started belt out her health concerns and her worry about aging parents, how to deal with work and basically unloaded her inner thoughts. What the chair offered was comfort and ease.

Office chairs may just not be the conventional type we know. As what we have read above, things could get a littler “rock” at the office.
