Free Yourself from Back Pain with your Office Furniture

Among the Brits, more than half of the workers are complaining of back pains due to poor-fitting office furniture. Research shows that this kind of back ache is suspected to be due from RSI or repetitive strain injury.

The number one cause of RSI among workers is the fact that companies purchase the wrong kind of office furniture – the ill-fitting, non-ergonomic types. This certainly does not cater to the needs of the worker. If you are experiencing back pains and suspecting your office chair to be the cause, then most probably, this is just a generic office furniture that you are using.


In the UK, it has been estimated that more than one third of people do not put attention in planning their office area, what more choosing the right office furniture to use. Because of this a lot people go through unpleasant labor experience like shoulder pains, sore necks, and eye strain in the office.

There are ways to prevent not only back pains, but other office furniture dilemmas as well:

  1. Do not go for generic types of office furniture. Generic ones do not take note of differences in the bodily structure of people. Remember that some of your employees are short, some are tall. Choosing the wrong furniture will result to problems.
  2. Consider a plan to set up the office workplace, including the proper office furniture needed in each department or unit. This requires careful thought on the nature of job of the employees.
  3. Always go for ergonomically-designed office furniture. Manufacturers are constantly promoting their ergonomic crafts that will prevent back pains, and all other physical aches developed due to ill-fitting office furniture.

Do yourself a favor. Take note of these three points in choosing which furniture to place in your office. You can keep yourself back pain-free and a complaint-free work environment as well.
