Adjusting Your Ergonomic Office Chair
The adjustable features of a highly ergonomic office chair is what makes it click to most users. Having the power and authority to adjust essential factors such as the height and the backrest all mean that the user can enjoy the chair in all its capabilities. Hence, here are a few important things that you should know before you get started on adjusting your office chair.
You will find a mechanism that interacts with your right at the center of your chair. Since not all human beings have the same, uniformed seating requirements, it is the job of the office chair designer to implement different degrees of adjustment for the comfort of the user.
There are three seating positions that enhance the ergonomics of the office chair in the workstation. One is the forward/recline position for those who have dedicated tasks; the upright position for those who have dedicated tasks, or multi tasks; and the backward/recline position for a more relaxed position.
Here are some ways for you to adjust your highly ergonomic office chair:
-Stand in front of the chair and adjust the height so that the highest point of the seat is just below the knee cap. Remember to keep your thighs parallel onto the floor when you sit down, allowing good blood circulation in the legs.
-Use a footrest if the feet can not rest flat on the floor to maintain good circulation in the legs. Remember to get the adjustable footrest that will fit your feet perfectly.
-Sit so that the clearance between the front edge of the seat and the upper part of the legs behind the knee is just a distance of one finger apart.
-Adjust the back height to provide support to the lumbar or the lower back area. This will greatly contribute to your proper posture and the alleviation of back pains.
-Adjust the seat angle by unlocking the said mechanism to tilt the seat forward or backward depending on your work. This could minimize the pressure on the underside of the thighs and even reduces tension on back muscles.
-Adjust the back angle to provide a firm support and to help reduce back fatigue, you can even adjust the armrest to your comfort. If your are using a fixed height worksurface, raise the chair to obtain the proper arm and upper body position. Finally, adjust the chair height so that elbows will be rested comfortably on the worksurface.
