Office Liquidators proclaimed last May 23rd, 2007 that it has welcomed more than 650 Colorado non-profit groups be given office furniture as a donation. Dennis Meyer, the CEO of the company who also is a former teacher, has contributed a large sum of money on office furniture to non-profit organizations and schools in the Colorado area throughout the years.

Craftmaster Furniture Inc. Announces New CEO

Furniture company, Craftmaster Furniture Inc., announces the promotion of Roy R. Calcagne to the position of Chief Executive Officer. Calcagne spent 26 years in the furniture business and was Senior VP of Universal furniture’s upholstery division when he joined them back in August 2003. Prior that, Calcagne was VP of merchandising at Broyhill Furniture, VP of Sales for Joan fabrics and an upholstery buyer for Macys, New York.

May 2006, after Craftmaster was acquired by Lacquer Craft, a fine company with a long standing history of quality and service, he was named President of the company. Calcagne will now report to Laquer Craft’s Chairman Samuel Kuo. Steven Lackey, the current CEO and previous owner, who has extensive background in upholstery manufacturing will remain with the company in a consulting and advisory capacity and having his input and guidance on various future projects, is something to look forward to.

Office furniture orders are weak

 HNI Corp. which makes office furniture and fireplaces, reported lower-than-expected quarterly sales and earnings, hurt by weak office furniture orders.

Analysts’ average earnings forecast was 45 cents a share, according to Reuters Estimates.

Chief Executive Stan Askren said during a conference call, the U.S. housing market downtown took a toll on the company’s hearth business, and the office furniture section did not work as predicted.

Senator International to Acquire Plan-It

UK’s biggest office furniture manufacturer Senator International has decided to acquire Plan-It Welding Services Ltd. In the goal to develop and produce cheaper work over their overseas rivals. Plan-It produces tubular steel components, which is a key part of making furniture.

“We believe that as part of the Senator Group, Plan-It Welding will be able to continue to provide the very flexible manufacturing facility for metal components which is critical to the future of our business,” Colin Mustoe, chairman of Senator said in an interview.

The company used to employ Plan-It to carry out work on the their behalf, but was going to start sending contracts overseas because the cost was cheaper. Now, it has decided to buy Plan-It instead as the company needs to retain its long-term run in the international market.

Product Knowledge at NeoCon to be presented by Atlas Ergonomics

Atlas Ergonomics founder Drew Bossen will given the chance to unveil the “missing link” in furniture investment on this year’s NeoCon World’s Trade Fair in Chicago.

“Regardless of how advanced an office ergonomic product is, if the employee is unaware of product features and how to use them effectively, then the investment is lost,” Bossen said.

NeoCon is the place where the office furniture industry gathers to reveal its most anticipated new ergonomic designs. Michalsens Office Furniture to Open at Machesney

Michalsens Office Furniture bought the aboned building from Northwest Bank of Rockford for a million dollars, while its building in Loves Park was sold to the bank for $400,000 which also happens to be the selling price.

The owner of the famous office furniture store, Jim Michalsen, said his growing business needs the additional space of the 68,000-square-foot Rev’d Up building that it purchased. In the next 60 days, Michalsen said he hopes to have the move to Machesney Park complete. Records show the sale closed June 28.

“We moved here (in Loves Park) six years ago, but we outgrew this in almost three years… mainly because of Internet sales,” Michalsen said in an interview.

Mayor Gets Apprehended for Spending on Furnitures

Watch out Mayor, while it does not hurt to lavish the office with high-quality office furnitures, you must make the people happy first.

A feisty editorial from The Washington Times has apprehended the 6-month-old Fenty Administration for spending the budget on office furniture instead of road repairs.

This claim has been supported by a new audit which reveals that D.C. Officials improperly spend more than $1.5 million on portable potties, furniture and utility expenses from a fund that was supposedly for the improvement of alleys, curbs, and roads.

KWL Company Brings Sustainability to its Office-III

Kerr Wood Leidal Associates Ltd. (KWL) opted to bring the element of sustainability to its new office in Burnaby. The implementation of this element could be illustrated in the basic office furnitures such as the office chairs, office desks, etc.

The heating and lighting were also considered. Motion sensors were even installed in common and public washrooms to turn off lights if the employee left the room and failed to do so. Low energy halogen lighting is installed in the lobby area where lighting burns for long periods. In addition, many employees have been situated near windows, limiting their need to turn on lights during bright days.
