Light It Up – Part 2

Working in a dim room can ruin the eyes, the area around the computer must be well lit. That way the bright screen or monitor is not in contrast with the darkness of the room. One thing you might want to try is to wash the walls with light, use a fixture that projects the light down the wall. By doing so, we are avoiding or preventing eye strain, the reflectors or optics inside of it are designed to project the light out of the side as opposed to the traditional way which is projecting downward.

Another thing to consider is the work surface of our office furniture. The office desks and other horizontal surfaces in our offices may be made of materials that are reflective. This will reflect the lights and will cause glaring, which is another thing that will strain our eyes. Materials such as those of metallic or gloss finish like granite can cause glare so we need to place our fixtures strategically in order to prevent the light from bouncing off those surfaces.
